Spotify and Gemini

I am a huge fan of Spotify. Have been a music lover since a young child, my range of listening taste goes from classical, folk, hip hop, to independent music, to Shoegaze and even punk.

Tomorrow I will be seeing one of my favorite bands, Ride, in Los Angeles. As a child and a teen, I collected 7 inch singles, cassette singles, then CDs, then DVDs, and have thrown most of them away. I currently use Spotify as my go to listening in the car and at home. I have access to thousands of songs and can change to whatever I want in a matter of seconds to top it off, I no longer have to rewind or look for the cassette case.

I saw an article on people using Google Gemini to suggest songs on Spotify. That intrigue me. So I looked it up. To use Google Gemini to suggest songs on Spotify, follow these steps. Unfortunately, this feature only works on devices running Android. My IPhone cannot do this:

1. Link Your Accounts – Ensure your Spotify account is linked to your Google Account. You can do this through the Gemini app settings.

2. Enable Extensions – In the Gemini app, go to your profile image, select “Gemini Apps Activity,” and turn it on [C](https://www.zdnet.com/article/spotify-users-can-ask-gemini-ai-to-find-and-play-their-favorite-music-now/). Then, go back and select “Extensions.” Make sure the Spotify extension is enabled.

3. Make Requests: Use voice or text commands to ask Gemini to play, search, or browse music on Spotify. For example, you can say, “Play [song name] by [artist name] on Spotify” or “Find a Spotify playlist with [genre, mood, activity] music” [C](https://www.zdnet.com/article/spotify-users-can-ask-gemini-ai-to-find-and-play-their-favorite-music-now/).

Keep in mind that this feature is currently available only on the Gemini Android app and requires a Spotify Premium subscription for playing specific songs

Keep an eye on future updates: As AI technology continues to evolve, it’s possible that future updates to Gemini or Spotify might introduce more direct integration and personalized recommendations.

For a solo entrepreneur, this feature could be leveraged to enhance experiences in sectors like music curation, content creation, or even personalized DJing services. Let me know if you’d like more specific ideas on how to implement this!
