For the past 27 years, I’ve been focused on information technology. I started my IT professional career in 1993 selling Compaq PCs at a big box store. These PCs went for over $1000 and most had either a DX or Pentium chip inside. Many ran DOS with Windows only an option. My first programming job came a year later as I started as a green programmer on a 4GL point-of-sale solution.
Now I am looking for a new challenge. Some ten years ago, I investigated real estate ownership as a viable strategy to carry my forward in building wealth and a future for my wife and I. Yes, we both have retirement savings, but I am concerned they won’t be enough for what I want to do in life.
Real Estate ownership means buying and holding property. Then renting out properties to make a small profit on each. I remember in the early ’90s hearing about how people had become wealthy buying and renting property. I didn’t know enough then about what to do or how to go about it. Even looking into this again around 2001, the resources weren’t there for me.
Skip forward to 2019, and everything i need to know is available at my fingertips. Also, having been frugal in our finances, we will have our primary house paid off within a few years. That will leave extra disposable income I can use to invest in our future. Stay tuned as I change perfectreign.com from a tech focused site to one looking into real estate and investing.
