Smartphone sales are slowing – Microsoft is again Worth More than Apple?

Back when I gave up on my Android devices and switched to Microsoft Windows phones, Apple was the darling of the stock world.  Apple stock was trading high based on sales of their Iphone product. Of course, Microsoft finally realized that no amount of money was going to get them to take even a decent niche market out of Android or Apple. Currently, Iphones account for roughly 25% of the mobile phone market. The rest belong to Samsung and the other Android mobile phone device makers.  Apple, meanwhile, has also all but given up on new PC hardware. Their devices running Mac OS and Ios have less than 10% of the total PC and tablet market.

So, maybe the bet that then-incoming CEO Satya Nadella made in 2016 to move to the cloud wasn’t so crazy as people thought back then. In fact, there were multiple reports last month about how Microsoft overtook Apple as the most valuable tech company.  Again, those reports surfaced this month.  Multiple reports show Microsoft on a winning track, having rid themselves of that mobile division and diversifying from just PCs to cloud, tablets, PCs, and laptops. Their services division shows a massive increase and a huge portion of their overall revenue.

In fact, with smartphones now beginning to decline in sales, companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google are poised to become the next generation of cloud giants.
